Prayer Walk Invites Connection with Creation

A special opportunity to connect with God’s creation is available to all attendees and delegates at the General Conference. Together with the Upper Room and Abington Press, the United Methodist Creation Justice Movement has developed a self-guided reflection that invites participants to step out onto The Green, the park opposite the Convention Center, and “to experience God through creation.”

The 13-20 minute prayer walk draws participants through seven short meditations, guiding attention toward the grass, trees, and thanksgiving for the natural world. These meditations and instructions for the walk are available in English, French, Hindi, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish and can be found online at A Prayer Walk for Creation.

As a self-guided activity, participants can choose to experience this prayerful walk when their schedules allow or at the nudge of the Spirit. Information is available via a QR code at the LYNC hospitality room, as well as through umcreationjustice.org/walk. Once on the website, either download the pdf or play the audio through a cellphone or other personal device. Participants are encouraged to wear footwear that will allow them to feel comfortable while walking on the grass.
