JUSTice Highlights Header

Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
(Hebrews 11:1)

Legislative work continues today as the delegates work through legislative calendars and individual items. Some items that passed overwhelmingly in committee have been pulled from consent calendars (it takes 20 delegates to request pulling) and will be voted on individually. Concern arises that there may be attempts to attach restrictions or make unacceptable changes to key provisions of these items.

The list of Coalition-supported items that are passing continues to grow. The delegates just approved Consent A04. It included several items included in the Revised Social Principles and approved a full communion relationship with the Episcopal Church.

In addition, the funding restrictions for activities related to LGBTQ support have been removed via the consent calendar.

Unfortunately, our planned noontime speakers sharing about the successful legislation to have the church apologize to the nation of Hawaiʻi had to cancel. HOWEVER, Native American International Caucus (NAIC) Chair Ragghi Rain will share a Native American story and share about the work of NAIC.

We Build It Together
