Prayers & Prayer Vigils for LYNC Pre-GC Briefing Teams

Dear Friends,

We’re writing because we need your prayers! This month, the Love Your Neighbor Coalition (LYNC) is sending representatives to four international General Conference briefings. Our goal is to continue building relationships with United Methodists around the world and to share LYNC’s vision for the future of our United Methodist Church with Central Conference delegates. Will you keep these efforts in your prayers this month?

The LYNC travelers are:

Feb. 5-8 Manila, Philippines Briefing. Nestor Gerente, President NAFAUM (National Association of Filipino American United Methodists) and reserve GC delegate; Haniel Garibay, Vice-President NAFAUM.

Feb. 12-15 Africa Central in Zimbabwe Greg Nelson, conference staff Oregon-Idaho representing host conference; Cynthia Moore, general conference delegate; Alex de Silva Souto providing Portuguese translation.

February 19-22 Congo in DRC. Jan Nelson, general conference delegate and representing host conference; Daniel Viana providing French translation.

February 26-29 West Africa in Cote d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast). Patricia Farris, general conference delegate who is also providing French translation; Dennis Akpona, Reconciling Ministries Network staff; Grace Imathiu, Bible teacher and public speaker.

You can multiply your impact by organizing a vigil with your community. There are links below that include a press release and other resources to help in building your own vigil. If you organize a vigil, please send us a photo (InternationalHospitality@lyncoalition.org) and post it on social media using the #justlove hashtag so that our volunteers will know that your prayers are with them.

If you’re looking for other ways to get involved with the Love Your Neighbor Coalition, you can visit lyncoalition.org to donate, volunteer at General Conference, and sign our vision statement.

Prayer is POWERFUL. It can help us shape the United Methodist Church into a more just, loving and grace filled community for ALL people. Let’s create a tidal wave of prayer from around the world!
