Can Your Church Take a Special Offering?

The Love Your Neighbor Coalition wants to create a more just and loving church by advocating for a progressive agenda at General Conference 2016-- and we need your help! We still need to raise $150,000 in order to fund all the work that we believe God is calling us to. Will you affirm this call and support our work by taking a special offering?

Time is running out. Our fundraising deadline is April 26th, two weeks before the first day of General Conference. If we don’t meet our budget by then, we’ll have to scale back our plans. That's why we’re targeting April as a special Month of Giving. To date, we’ve raised over $175,000 together, so we know this final push is do-able. We are more than halfway there! Hallelujah!

Here is what your donations can do:

  • Welcome international guests
  • Impact legislation and The United Methodist Church through an organized witness
  • Amplify marginalized voices and communicate with volunteers, delegates, and friends
  • Provide for paid staff, including Steve Clunn and Julia Frisbie
  • Support hundreds of volunteers on the ground in Portland

Will your church take a special offering during April? Every contribution makes a difference. This is a great opportunity to connect with the #JustLove movement, especially for supporters who may not be able to travel to Portland this May.

We've created worship resources so it’s easy to share the story with your congregation. After you count the offering, please send us an email at That way we’ll know right away whether or not we’ve met our budget. Then mail a check to LYNC at 212 East Capitol St. NE, Washington, DC 20003.

Friends, you know what we’re up against. This is a critical time for the UMC to decide who we are and what we stand for. Our campaign has a vast and growing network of grassroots supporters who believe in a fully inclusive church. With your help, we want to tell this story. Together, we are focusing on what really matters: #JustLove.
